Kinder says bonjour to French

Children in our four-year old kinder are learning to speak French as part of a 12-month trial that was introduced this term.

While children will spend about 20 minutes each week using an iPad apps to learn French, children are also learn the language through songs, games and stories.

Early Years Leader, Susan Hurley said “The kids are loving it. Because they’re so iPad savvy, they’re straight into it,” The program is part of the federal government-funded ELLA (Early Learning Languages Australia) program. King's College chose French as the language for this program because we teach french in the College.

Studies show that before the age of four or five was an optimum time for children to learn another language.
